Coronavirus and Leather School
As of March 17th 2020 we have decided to close Leather School and postpone all of our scheduled courses in the light of the coronavirus pandemic and government advice. We will be closely monitoring government communications before we start running courses again.
If you have already booked onto a course scheduled over the next couple of months we will be getting in touch with you as soon as we can.
Thank you for your understanding
Welcome to Leather School®
At Leather School you’ll learn practical leatherworking skills steeped in age-old traditions at our modern facilities near the beautiful coast and moorland of South Devon. Operating from the same building as Tanner Bates traditional English leather-making studio makes us one of the best resourced centres for learning leather work in the UK; our tutors are Tanner Bates professionals, along with skilled practitioners in different specialisms.
The Leather School® Mission
Whether you come for a short experiential course, or to learn essential leather-working practices, our aim is to inspire you to get hands-on with leather, enabling you to understand and use skills that you can continue to develop, either for the pleasure of learning a craft or in your professional life. Who comes on our courses?
We have courses for beginners and crafters with some experience, starting with short classes and building up to essential skills weekends to get you established. Beyond this we are committed to supporting our students and experienced leather workers with advanced and specialist skills workshops. Leather School courses have been a choice for couples celebrating their third wedding anniversary, where leather is the traditional gift! We also run courses and events for groups and organisations.
